The Island House is one of my favorite venues. There is something about it that feels so nostalgic and quiet. Depending on the time of year you can find a field of flowers or corn field growing, boats cruising by on the river, and people pledging their love to one another. On the weekend after Thanksgiving it was Amy and Zach’s turn to say ‘I do‘.
The day is really crisp, honestly, perfect weather. A little overcast at times, not too hot, and the sun peaks through to warm the grass. Amy laughs with her sister, brother, and new sisters in law as she gets ready. Zach is crushing it in Mario Kart with his friends. When they start to get dress you can feel the anticipation starting to build. It’s when Zach turns around and sees Amy for that first time you only feel pure happiness. The kind you feel when you’re laying on a warm deck on a sunny afternoon.
As their guests begin to arrive you feel the anticipation build again, ‘This is it! We’re doing this!‘. The music begins and the excitement continues to build. Zach and Amy pledge their love for one another, promise through thick and thin they will be there for each other. When they turn to face their friends and family as husband and wife you hear cheers and clapping.
When it’s right you know it’s right. Each of the people in attendance today, knew this was right. Not a soul wanted to be anywhere else.
