I spent this past Friday at the American Lung Association’s 2014 Oxygen Ball, and let me tell you these people know how to raise money for a good cause and have an awesome time. I could not have been more impressed with the event or more honored to be a part of. The generosity of the attendees was overwhelming and all the hard work the American Lung Association put into this event definitely paid off!
People came to have a good time and I have no doubt they did. Heck, I was just taking pictures and I had a good time! There was an amazing silent auction, live auction, dancing with the stars, and oh did I mention a flash mob? Oh yeah, they did that too.
The amazing Dancing with the Stars portion of the evening. The celebrity dancers this year were: Rob Concannon (President, South Carolina Stingrays), Michael Scarafile (President, Carolina One Real Estate), Elizabeth Colbert-Busch (Director of Business Development, Clemson University Restoration Institute), Shelley Hochman (Partner, The Facial Surgery Center), and last but not least (p.s. this was the winner!) Catherine Stuhr (Vice President, J. Henry Stuhr, Inc.). You know Dancing with the Stars is not complete without the mirrored ball trophies, don’t worry, ALA rewarded the dancers appropriately.
So what do you do after auctions, flash mobs, dancing with the stars? Well it is a ball, so now it’s time to get down and they did! It was a Great Gatsby themed evening and as the saying goes, “a little party never killed nobody.” As a matter of fact these folks helped out a lot of children and adults and ALA’s mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
